Wendy Richards is a Principal and Pro Bono Counsel at Miller Canfield in Detroit. Earlier in her legal career, Wendy focused on complex civil litigation including class actions, securities, and intellectual property matters. From 2013-2016, Wendy worked at a Detroit-based nonprofit serving community organizations through pro bono assistance, where she was Director of Legal and Policy Programs and General Counsel. There she helped community leaders and entrepreneurs throughout Michigan develop innovative programs to improve economic development opportunities and quality of life in underserved communities.
Currently in her role as Miller Canfield’s first Pro Bono Counsel, Wendy is responsible for coordinating the firm’s pro bono efforts. She has assisted in and led teams on high-impact immigration litigation matters, community development projects, entrepreneurship opportunities in disadvantaged communities, as well as several other access to justice initiatives. She has been a co-chair of the ABPCo Voting Rights Task Force since 2017.
Wendy is a 2002 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and received her B.A. in History from the University of Michigan in 1997.
